Try this Visualization Tip

May 10, 2012 by Donna Marie

Lady deep in thought visualizingWe don’t necessarily get what we want in our life and as a result of this, we end up getting stressed. We need to understand that when we give our best to achieve what we desire that things really start to unfold in the direction we want them to.

How Visualization is Helpful

Most of the people have the habit of imagining what they want or the outcome they want to have happen.  Oftentimes, this can be counterproductive when you focus on negative outcomes.  For example, if we are having problems with our colleagues at work, and we focus on the negative outcome.  By focusing your energy on the negative outcome you are always looking for the negative.

I believe the reverse to be true.  If you spend your time focusing and visualizing on the positive, then you will affect a positive outcome in your life.  In my seminars I have often said, “What you think about, you bring about.”   Here are some strategies to help you with your positive visualizations.

How to Visualize:

First, make yourself comfortable.  You don’t have to be in a dark room but it is good to find a space with little distractions.  Take slow and deep breaths and you will find yourself relaxed soon. Just keep your eyes closed and start visualizing the event that is causing you stress.

Picture in your mind the possible outcomes for this stressful event.  It is ok to spend some time thinking about many outcomes.  Once you have settled in on the outcome that you truly desire, FOCUS ON THE RESULTS and leave out the details.  Think about how you are going to feel when it comes to be.  Engage all of your senses, and visualize what you want to experience for yourself:  peace, balance, improved relationships, increased accomplishments, etc.  Once you have a clear picture of the outcome you desire you should just take a few moments to relax and become present again to now.

Again, picture or imagine it, as if is already exist. The key is to practice experiencing a positive emotion surrounding the outcome of your intentions.  Your emotions set forth your positive (or negative) intentions for what you desire or wish for.

Need a Little Help?

If you are new to this method of visualization then do not worry – you could get help from prepared guided visualization.  Try my audio CD to practice Mindfulness Meditation Practice here.  There are three tracks included, and each one will help you to relax and visualize.  You can listen to a sample of each track here.

What others say…

This Way to 2012

January 4, 2012 by Donna Marie

Simple ways for 2012. . .
Below are three simple steps one can take this year to create more peace and joy.

Meditation and visualization are proven ways to train the mind to relax and create. Letting go is a process of releasing emotional attachments to things and old beliefs and then giving one a sense of freedom.

All aid greatly to relieve stress, overwhelm, and contribute to your peace.

Try these daily …

1.   MEDITATE 3 – 15 minutes daily in a upright comfortable position

  • With eyes closed, focus on your breathing to settle thoughts.
  • Notice any sensations within you without judgment; just practice being.
  • Trust the process!

2.  VISUALIZE– 2-3 minutes daily. Eyes closed, then picture within your mind to

  • Visualize all you want to bring forth; experiences, new passions, ways of being, etc.
  • Visualizel kindness, truth, love, acceptance, and joy for you and others.
  • Trust the process!

3.  LETTING GO

  • Get rid of material things that no longer serve you; toss out or give away.
  • Let go of those that de-energize you or limit time with them.
  • Let go of being right
  • Let go of judgments of others and yourself.

My wish for you this year is to consider an ongoing practice of these effective methods. They do work when applied.

Wishing you a fabulous New Year!   Trust the process!

Blessings, Donna Marie

Mindfulness Meditation: Consciously Relax and De-Stress

February 18, 2010 by Donna Marie

Are you ready to tackle stressors in your life? Are you looking for a way to deal with day to day hurdles that get in your way? There are many simple techniques to keep the stress from piling up, but the key to all of them is mindfulness.

Mindfulness is being aware in the moment. Too often our lives fly by on hyperspeed and we can barely remember how we feel, what we did that day or when the last time was that we took some time for ourselves. It is very important to stay in the moment at all times.

Mindfulness can help in numerous aspects of our lives, especially while dealing with stress. Mindfulness, when paired with relaxation, visualization and meditation, can be the keys to leading a life that is much calmer and more connected.

Begin by taking some time every day to focus on yourself. If you need to get up a little earlier, or use part of your lunch break- do it! It is easy to spend too much time focusing on others, be it family, friends or co workers, and we usually forget that we should be number one. It is time now to focus on yourself!

Take some time to do some deep breathing and focus on the day ahead of you. Think about events that may be causing you stress in the future. By focusing on events, mindfully, piece by piece, the stressor won’t seem so large, but instead will become manageable. If there is a specific situation that causes you anxiety, playing out how the situation will go in a positive way creates a higher likelihood that you will feel less stressed in a given situation!

Also use some of your personal time to do some deep breathing. Find a comfortable place to sit or lay down. After you have thought about things that may be coming up in your day, try to clear your mind of anything that may be causing you undue negativity. Studies have found that people who relax and meditate on a regular basis not only have lower levels of stress, but are healthier over all!

You too can tackle any problem or situation head on by planning it out in your head. When you enter a stressful situation, think back to the planning you did before hand. You will find that many of those situations become easier to deal with. By taking a few simple steps to relax and take some time to simply focus on you, you will soon find that you are on your way to having decreased stress on a regular basis.
